Fingersmoran
Shawn Moran first picked up a bass guitar at age fourteen. Initially struggling with his
right-handed bass, he eventually switched to a left-handed bass and hasn't looked back
since.

Forming Scapegoat with his two best friends, Andrew and Brian, Shawn honed his skills
playing both original songs and covers from bands such as Nirvana, The Tea Party and
Soundgarden. During this time, Shawn also played in various cover bands, covering Black
Sabbath, Primus, and Rush. For three years Shawn played weekly at a local bar in a Rage
Against The Machine / Guns 'N Roses tribute band. After eight years, Scapegoat split up, but
the band members still remain good friends. Brian and Shawn continue to play together when
they're in the same city, and contribute to each other's music via email.

In 1999, Shawn became frustrated by the lack of left-handed instruments available so he
designed a left-handed, six-string bass. A local guitar shop built the bass and it has been
Shawn's primary playing instrument since then. In 2002 Shawn moved from London, Ontario
to Vancouver to explore the city's once legendary music scene. He played with a few original
bands, touring BC with Oxygen before joining Naked For Jesus. Shawn played with Naked for
Jesus for two years before the band changed its name to IROC. IROC stayed together for
another year, before disbanding in 2006.

Shawn took this opportunity to write his own music. His sound is influenced by years of
listening to Led Zeppelin and bass-driven bands such as Primus, Rush and Tool. Bands that
implement reggae elements, like Big Sugar, Sublime and the Police, are also an inspiration to
him. He is interested in jazz and funk-fusion artists such as Dave Brubeck, Bela Fleck and the
Flecktones, King Crimson and Charlie Hunter. With his extended practical history and eclectic
interests, Shawn's music promises precision and creativity in the years ahead.
